plant operation - Civil Engineering Plant and Construction Plant overview

Apprentices on this scheme will be working towards becoming experienced skilled construction operatives. The apprenticeship framework includes the following:


  • Health, safety and welfare in construction.
  • Installing domestic drainage (manholes, brickwork, concreting and pipe work).
  • Laying kerbs and channels.
  • Understanding information, quantities and communicating with others.
  • Working to lines and levels.
  • Using civil engineering technology in practice.
  • Establishing work area protection and safety including street works.

what qualifications will i gain?

You will gain the follow qualifications on the plant operation apprenticeship:


  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Technical Certificate Construction Plant Certification Scheme (CPCS) Red Card – the Training Component.
  • Essential Skills Wales.
  • Peripheral qualifications including Health and Safety Awareness and First Aid.
  • NVQ Level 2.
  • Construction Plant Certification Scheme (CPCS) Blue Card – Competence qualification.

training

12 to 15 weeks of training is provided to all apprentices in a sandwich course format at our training centre in North Wales. On the job training is provided at our construction sites throughout the UK.

duration

The apprenticeship can take between 15 months and two years to complete.
